Hello, my name is Amanda. I am a dedicated licensed professional counselor with over twenty years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in office based, community, residential, school, and home settings. I have specialized training in play therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I firmly believe we are all capable of growth and change; sometimes we just need a little help on our journey, especially when we are younger. In today’s world, things occur that even the strongest adults can have a challenging time dealing with emotionally, and children and adolescents are no different.  They are trying to make sense of how they are feeling in a world where their problems are often bigger than they may appear.

With a strong commitment to fostering healthy relationships and the emotional well-being of my clients, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of those I serve. Through empathy, compassion, and professional expertise, I have helped individuals and families navigate the challenges they are facing, and helping them to get back onto a path towards happiness and resilience. Some of the approaches that I use are family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt), trauma-focused cbt, and art and play therapy.

Pronouns I use for myself: She/Her

"Pain is a part of being alive, and we need to learn that. Pain does not last forever,

nor is it necessarily unbeatable, and we need to be taught that."

– Harold Kushner, from the book “When Bad Things Happen to Good People”

Hi! My name is Molly, and I have spent many years studying trauma and child sexual abuse as a researcher and Professor, and lately, as a trauma therapist. I earned my MSW in 2007, and then my PhD in Social Welfare at the University of Buffalo in 2014. I am a tenured Professor in the Social Work Department at Penn West University (Edinboro Campus). My research on trauma and child sexual abuse has been published in national and international academic journals, and I have presented at numerous national and international conferences.

In addition to my academic and research experience I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in PA and a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in NY. I have specialized training using Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR),Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and the Flash Technique. In my direct clinical practice, I have been working with adult trauma survivors at the Crime Victim’s Center, and recently I began working with adults in my private practice as well. As an educator, researcher, and trauma therapist, the application of evidence-based practice is key to my clinical practice.

Surviving trauma is terrible and painful, and you don’t have to do it alone. If you were brave enough to read my bio, it’s because a part of you wants to heal. I am proud of you for coming this far, and I want you to know: trauma is healable. Many people have healed from their trauma and you can too, with the right treatment. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. I look forward to speaking with you and seeing if our personalities are a match for each other.
